Pruce Newman’s energetic Managing Director, Graham Newman, successfully completed the 2018 Virgin Money Giving London Marathon last Sunday, achieving a personal ambition and raising over £5,000 in online and offline donations for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) in the process. Graham, who started training for the marathon last year, completed the world-famous 26.2 mile event in a time of  5:59:35 – just inside his 6-hour target.

Last week’s marathon was widely reported as being the hottest on record, with over 40,000 athletes braving the challenging conditions in the UK capital. Speaking about his day, Graham said:

The day was generally overwhelming – what an amazing atmosphere – everything everybody said it would be and then some. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such extreme highs and lows in any other (just under) 6 hour period in my entire life. Queuing for the loos twice and missing out on one of my scheduled water/ refueling points at about mile 16 on top of the extreme heat between 12 and 3pm were the lows, but the music and amazing support from the crowds and my family were the highs. Thanks once again for all your amazing support.

EACH are Pruce Newman’s Charity Partner for 2017/18, and we’ve pledged to raise at least £10,000 to support the EACH nook appeal, which will build a new hospice in the heart of Norfolk, providing vital care for children with life-limiting conditions and their families. Graham’s marathon run is part of a series of fundraising challenges that have taken place in the past 12 months, including a sponsored abseil down the front of The Forum in Norwich, and an endurance karting race at Ellough, which received fantastic support from staff, clients and suppliers.
